100 백 = hundred

1,000 천 = 1)thousand 2)Kilometer= K 

1,000,000 백만 = 1)million 2)metres(lower case)= M

1,000,000,000 십업 = billion = B

규칙

1.Typically group numbers in threes.

* As K is often associated with money

*Round number : 반올림숫자

*decimal point : 소수점

 

ex) 2.95K = 2950K = Two point nine five K = Two thousands nine hundred and fifty pounds = Two point nine five K

 

*fractions : 분수

 

ex) 7.5K = 7500K = seven thousand five hundred pounds = seven and a half thousand pounds = seven point five K = seven and a half K

 

 

*K is also abbreviation for Km (Kilometer)

ex)I'm runinng 10k thisweeken

1. 000세자리 넘어가면 구분

ex)782 = seven hundred and eighty-two

ex)5,382 = five thousand three hundred and eighty-two

ex)65,382 = sixty-five thousadn three hundred and eighty-two

 

2.6 digits? add And

ex)165,382 = one hundred and sixty-five thousand, three hundred and eighty-two

ex)297,165,382 =two hundred and ninty-seven milion,one hundred and sixty-five thousand and three hundred and eighty-two

 

3.소수 (.)(decimal데시멀)읽기

*The decimal point is said as point and all numbers after are said separately. 

*1.Zero 2.nought (노우트) 3.oh 라고 읽음 - but stick one!

ex)1.932 = one point nine three two

ex)0.508 = zero point five zero eight / oh point five oh eight = point five zero eight

 

4.분수(Fraction) 읽기

*서수사용 (third,fifth,sixth,twelfth)

*분자가 1보다 크면 서수는 복수로 변

ex)9 3/4 = nine and three quarters

ex)6 5/9 = six and five ninths

ex)1/2 = a half   1/4 = a quarter   1/9 = a ninth = one ninth    5/9 = five ninths >> 서수(ordinal numbers)

ex)593,272,3333.... = five hundred and ninety-three thousand two hundred and seventy-two and a third
